Assignment 3

This is a simple story about ET. It is night time, and ET is asleep. He happens to wake up and makes his way out of the room he is sleeping in. He sees something, and wakes me up from my sleep as well. He brings me to take a look at what he saw. He points to the object, and as I understood what he was pointing at, I smiled. He was pointing at the cupboard, and inside it was a milk bottle. The milk bottle was what ET was looking for.

Suggestions have been brought up for the 5th picture, that ET should have been the one pointing the direction he wanted to go to, instead of me giving the directions. Also, for the 8th picture, it was suggested that the doors of the cupboard be sightly open, to suggest even stronger that the milk bottle was found inside the cupboard.

Would appreciate more comments to improve on this assignment. Thanks all! : )

Assignment 2

assignment-2-a4_blog.jpgassignment-2_blog.jpg

I have chosen a watch for this assignment. The reality is started off by a picture of a Rolex watch. Following that, I create a normal picture of a wrist watch. Then, I remove the hour hand and the minute hand of the watch but maintaining the look of a wrist watch. Next, I remove the belt of the watch altogether, leaving just the face of it. Then, I remove the circle that makes the perimeter of the face. And lastly, just the hour and minute hand is left.

The final symbol I have chosen, is that of the wrist watch without the hour hand and minute hand.

I have received comments that perhaps it seems strange that the hour and minute hands were removed on the 3rd stage, and later re-introduced at the 4th stage.

Assignment 1: Final Stage

And these are my finals for my flowers and pencils. Taking into consideration of previous comments by the class, I have made some changes.

Flower: It was commented that the fence for the garden concept (my name) seemed to come across too strong, and the flowers were not able to hold the attention. I felt either the name or the flowers had to steal the limelight, and I chose the flowers. Hence, the fence is of a lighter colour as compared to the bright and strong colours of the flowers. I wish for viewers to focus their attention on the flowers before recognizing that my name is there.

Pencils: Chose the writing style of the pencil as it was favoured widely. Suggestions were givent that more styles could be added on to show the versatility of the pencil. I had attempted to do this to the very best of my IT knowledge. After this was presented to the class for the final time, it was commented that certain letters could be written with thicker strokes of the pencil, to further show the pencil’s versatility. Now I am equipped with the IT skills to do that…. hahahahaha.

Assignment 1: Stage 1

monday-february-05-2007-2.JPG

These are the 8 thumbnail sketches. Basically, the two themes that I have chosen represent things that I love: flowers and pencils. For those wondering why pencils, I feel that pencils are very versatile and one can do anything with it.

The last flower thumbnail does not show very clearly, but it is actually a wired fence with holes in it (imagine a wired fence with huge holes that people have cut through). The holes actually make up my name. The other 3 flower designs are cherry blossoms, a garden concept, and a simple design of flowers embedded in my name.

The pencil designs are simple and self-explanatory, nothing much to elaborate on.
